Indigenous, unionists, social
activists
around 80 men and women, actors of social
movements in the whole Latin American continent, will participate
to the American Continental Meeting 2001. This event is
organised by the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and
United World and will be held in Quito from the 19th to
the 23rd of June.
The meeting has the objective of presenting
the common perspectives existing in the Americas to todays
dominant model. These perspectives stem from the collective
experiences that are carried out from the Tierra de Fuego
to Canada under the slogan The Peoples of America
building a common dream".
The Alliance of America seeks bringing
together and combining the civic dynamics and the experiences
that the meetings in Bolivia, Paraguay, Canada and Mexico
have displayed. 2000 and 2001 are important years in the
development of Alliance of America.
The Alliance for a Responsible, Plural
and United World is a convergence of energy, skills, experiences,
organisations and peoples desires accompanied
by a militant and a professional commitment around a common
perspective. It is a space where everyone speaks on its
behalf without denying his/her identity, searching for collective
alternatives to the actual models of world, society and
human being.
The meeting co-ordination has set up a
communication room opened to all interested persons from
09:00 to 12:30 and from 15:00 to 16:30 from the 19th to
the 21st of June, in the Hotel Quito (Av. González
Suárez N27 142). There will be available information
on the participants of the meeting, on the alternative movements
of the continent and on the Alliance for a Responsible,
Plural and United World.
