The Cultural Council of South Lebanon was founded in 1964 in Sayda,
capital city of South Lebanon. It focuses on: supporting the Palestinian
cause and the struggle for justice within Arab an international
societies; fostering the progressive culture; encouraging political
engagement by means of cultural activities; developing the representation
of South Lebanon as a space of resistance and creativity.
For these objectives to be achieved, the institution organizes meetings,
seminars, exhibitions, festivals and workshops. It also publishes
books and reports, and cooperates with cultural organizations and
movements of Lebanon and the Arab World. In the last 3 years it
has also supported the activities of the "Alliance for a responsible,
plural and united world".
