The 'Réseau Cultures Europe'
(Europe Culture Network) has implemented a programme in order to connect
people living or acting in multicultural urban neighbourhoods. It
is under this programme that they organised a meeting gathering various
neighbourhood co-ordinators in order to go further into questions
about multicultural experiences : Can a lack of intercultural understanding
lead to a cultural or ethnic 'apartheid', spontaneous that reinforces
prejudices ? Are these leading to tensions and conflicts ? Can they
be the ground for political manipulations ?
This document explains the methodology used for exploring these themes
and tries to answer these questions. In the first chapter, participants
share their daily experiences and their perceptions of their meanings.
In the second chapter, a series of initiatives (implemented by the
co-ordinators) are exposed and commented. In the third chapter, the
author proposes a synthesis of the outcomes and an analysis of the
implications.
